Welcome
Hello everyone and thanks for dropping by my little corner of cyberspace.
JULY 2009- I am running at the speed of gig as always. June had me at the Miami Valley Jazz Camp in OH. I had 24 Drummers for my Groove Boot Camp, and 26 for the week of camp. It was a great week of teaching with Jim Leslie and performing with Jon Faddis. I am heading out to the International Music Camp to present my Groove Boot Camp, and teach for the week of camp as well. I really enjoy teaching at IMC, and I am looking forward to another great week of teaching. Levi Kreis is out and playing live dates on his off days from his successful stage show…and I enjoyed Omaha with him…we have Chicago coming up. Rumble King continues to grab people by the lapels with our high energy music…so much joy making music in that band. Check my calendar page for all of the details. I am on the Unity Award winning Gospel Song and Gospel Album Of The Year. This award is known as ‘the Catholic Grammy’ and it is quite an honor. Ted Perlman did a great job Producing and recording this record, and I am proud to be a part of it.

D’Haene’s new CD Vinyl will be out soon….here is what the critics are saying:
“D’Haene have been added to my list of bands that are slowly restoring my faith in modern rock”
“Vinyl” is D’Haene’s latest high energy offering. It’s rock music with peaks and valleys in all the right places.
This band has a very rich and mature set of skills with a sound that conveys musical inspiration across several genres and time periods. This is rock and roll with some damn meat to it. Everyone should know about them.
“4 out of 5 signatures
Unsigned The Magazine
“There is an impressive range of styles and influences going on here. When I listen to the range of this one and the quality of musicianship, it kinda makes me wonder how this band has slipped through the major label radar.”

I will return as the Jazz Drum Set Instructor at the International Music Camp again next July. It will be a great week. I had 25 energetic and wonderful students who worked hard, and “Drove the bus” at their final performances last year and I look forward to many more years at this excellent camp. “Sammy K’s Groove Boot Camp” was very successful and my students all hada great week at IMC. If you are or know any young Drum students near North Dakota, have them check out www.internationalmusiccamp.com
I am also the Jazz Drum Set Instructor at the Miami Valley Jazz Camp in Centerville, Ohio. I taught “Sammy K’s Groove Boot Camp” concept of intense Drum Set styles, tuning, set up of the drums, discussion of tone production and the importance of cymbal and drum head selection. This is a great program to get young drummers ready for the week of Jazz instruction at the camp, and I am excited to be teaching it. If you know any students near Ohio, this is the place to send them.
I am on the release by Rex Merriweather “This Ain’t Your Daddy’s Big Band.” It is receiving strong reviews, and it is a modern version of the big band format-no society music here! To hear and purchase this CD go to www.stunttrumpet.com for info or here to purchase http://cdbaby.com/cd/rexmerriweather
Courtney Lemmon’s debut CD “Stay With Me” produced by Grammy winner MJ Acosta is a strong first outing that mixes Jazz and Pop into a wonderful blend. I play Drums on all tracks, and you may see me out and about playing with her live. Go here to purchase this CD http://cdbaby.com/cd/clemmon
“Unsung Stories” on CMT (Country Music Television) featuring Travis Howard is still running on CMT and he and the band did a great job. Travis has written several songs on the two Miranda Lambert CD’s that have both gone Platinum…..so things are looking good for my man from GA.
In the mean time, look for me in line for the next great coaster ride…or on the first tee….
Blessings,
