Drums/Roller Coasters/TV/Zildjian West

I have been playing some wonderful gigs…including a return to the Devil Doll show after a 6 years away. The band was wonderful, and she is better than ever….was an enjoyable weekend.
I am recording with long time friend and Musician Drew Schnurr this week, can’t wait to see what he has composed this time.
Tomorrow I will be a part of live TV news and Media Day for the opening of the Green Lantern roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It will be fun to ride the new one without the lines and heat of SoCal in summer, can’t wait to see what it is like.
I also was a part of the house warming party at the new Zildjian West Artist Relations Center in Burbank CA. Most of my Drumming heroes were in the same room at the same time, and I tried some exciting new cymbals….can’t wait until they make it to market!
TV/radio and Drums

This has been quite a couple of weeks! I gigged on Hawaii with the Jocelyn Michelle Quintet, was a guest on the Christopher Gabriel Program and taped an episode of “Burt The Conqueror”. It is always such a pleasure to make music with the JMQ-great folks playing wonderful organ Jazz. Christopher is such a great host, friend and wonderful foil for radio fun. I love the show “Burt The Conqueror” and I was part of a small group of folks riding the renovated Superman:Escape from Crypton coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. We rode with Burt and Warren Sap….two funny dudes….and Warren knows his coasters! I had a chance to talk to one of the NFL’s best one on one…and we talked about roller coasters….dig it! I also did an interview with Burt….we will see if I make the final cut!
What People Are Saying About Sammy...
"First rate musicianship, teaching, and groove! Sammy came in Swinging from the first downbeat! He was equally comfortable driving the big band, interacting with the faculty combo, or coaching the Drum students. He connected with everyone at the gigs and at the camp. His infectious personality, energy, and tireless groove have earned him an open-ended invitation back whenever he can make it. One of the most versatile and musical drummers out there! A true pro's pro! Dr. Scott Belck - Director of Jazz Studies-Cincinatti Conservatory of Music-Associate Professor www.scottbelck.com
