Drum! Clinics/Festival and performing

February 20, 2013

I am heading out to the wilds of MI to perform as a featured soloist with Mike Daniels LaBatterie concert this sunday Feb 24th.  From there I will be heading to Canada to the Optimist Jazz Festival in Winnipeg, Canada for three days of adjudication. I will then head to Regina Canada for clinics and teaching.

The March issue of Drum! has an ad for the Remo Versa Drum that features yours truly.  Issue 201 has the ad, and I am looking forward to getting a copy….or two.

NAMM and gigs

January 31, 2013

Well the NAMM show has come and gone again…and this year I was blessed to be part of the Remo AD for the new VersaDrum.  Saw many friends and made a few new ones, while looking at some wonderful gear from Remo, Zildjian, Vic Firth, Yamaha and Cympad.

I am playing on the road with Michael B Levin, in town….then headed on the road to Michigan and Canada.

Rex’s Band Brings Out The Stars

October 12, 2012

Rex Merriweather’s “This Ain’t Your Daddy’s Big Band” has been in residence at Las Hadas Restaurant for several years.  Lately, it has been the place where celebrities come to hear great Jazz music.  Joey Heatherton, Troy Lucketta (Tesla), Tony Dow and James Gandolfini have all stopped by recently.  It is a testament to music and how it brings people of all types together that Jazz draws so many folks to a little restaurant in the valley!

so blessed

May 5, 2012

I have just returned from a wonderful run of gigs with the Jocelyn Michelle Group and Blues Train on the island of Hawaii.  I also made my monthly appearance on the Christopher Gabriel Program…always such fun.  I am excited for May…recording with the First Baptist Church Pasadena…wednesday nights with Rex Merriweather’s Band….and some old school fun with Steve Waddington.

GA/MI Here I Come

February 22, 2012

I’m headed out to be the Guest Artist at Mercer University this week, and then off to Michigan.  I will be presenting my Groove Boot Camp program at Mercer, as well as performing with the big band.  In Michigan, I will be playing with the MSU Spartan Brass at the men’s basketball game…Go Green!  I will then be a part of Mike Daniels La Batterie concert.  I will be a featured soloist…and the 25 Drum Set group will perform a piece I composed as well.

2011 ending strong

December 23, 2011

December has been a wonderful month for me-recording with Esther Vallentine and Rex Merrweather’s Big band for her CD/New Year’s Eve with Michael Levin’s tribute to the Rat Pack/played the 69th annual Christmas evening service at First Baptist Church in Pasadena/along with some other great local gigs….livin the dream baby!

wonderful weekend-nice start to this week

December 12, 2011

I played some wonderful shows over the weekend in AZ/was part of an amazing Christmas Program at First Baptist Church of Pasadena last night-made my monthly appearance on the Christopher Gabriel Program-tomorrow is the annual Mike Acosta Christmas Goof in Santa Monica-livin the dream!

A mighty wind and many gigs

December 1, 2011

December started with 100mph+ winds here in SoCal….and I nearly had a full sized tree go through my windshield….it was a serious storm here.  The GREAT news is that I am playing more than I ever have in December!  Rex Merrweather is playing some private events, and recording a CD.  Devil Doll is taking to the road, and I am appearing on the Christopher Gabriel Program once again.

Looking forward to a wonderful month of music making….and tree dodging.
